Integrate Mailing Lists with Axis LMS via Zapier

Integrating Axis LMS with 1,000+ Apps, Systems and Services is easy when you use Zapier.

Zapier is a service that allows applications to communicate with each other. Popular services such as MailChimp, Salesforce, PayPal, and QuickBooks Online can send data to Axis LMS, at which point you can perform actions on.

Using this methodology, you will be creating a ‘Zap’ — think of them as cause/effect scenarios. When something happens in Axis LMS, something should happen in MailChimp.

Every automated action within Zapier begins by selecting the ‘Make a Zap!’ Button, while logged into your Zapier account.
    Cause…
    A new user was created in Axis LMS

    Effect…
    Add a new Subscriber into MailChimp

After selecting ‘Make a Zap!’ you’re going to need to select an App to retrieve data from. As Axis LMS is going to be the initiator in this example, you’ll begin by selecting Axis LMS as the Trigger app.



Next, you would select the trigger action that needs to occur inside the Axis LMS System. There are three trackable actions you can look for: Course Completion, Purchase Completed, and User Added. For this case, we’re looking for a New User.



After saving your trigger action, the next step is to select an Action. First, select where you want the effect to occur. We want something to happen in MailChimp, so we’ll select the app.



Next you will need to select which Action you’d like Axis LMS to take. For this scenario, we will be Adding/Updating a MailChimp Subscriber.



After connecting your MailChimp account (system URL and an API key), you’ll be presented with five fields to complete. Two required, and three optional. First you’ll select an existing MailChimp Mailing List, then you’ll pull data from the new Axis LMS User - in this case, the Email Address. Optionally, you can select double opt-in, update the user’s existing campaign lists, or replace groups.


Once you’ve filled out the two required fields, click the 'Send Test to MailChimp' Button. After a successful test, you'll be given the option to save and name your new Zap! and optionally turn it on for your Zapier account. If switched on, every new user that gets created in your Axis LMS will be added into one of your MailChimp Campaign lists.
The features discussed in this article may or may not be available on your LMS system.
