Hiding Buttons Inside your Axis LMS Learning Modules

Every module type available in your LMS has different buttons and options that you may not even be aware of. You can also hide buttons that you aren’t getting any use out of.

Whichever the case, this ‘hidden’ feature can be seen and worked with by editing your module. Once you’re working inside the module, you’re going to head to the Visuals sub-tab and look for the Extra CSS section. Here is where you can hide to add different buttons to your module.

The left column is composed of a list of all the different pieces available to manipulate inside this module type. If the title of the selector isn’t apparent to you, hovering over it will give you a brief description as to what that modifier will affect. For this example, we’re going to assume we want to add a Pause button to a graded quiz - so we’ll click on the pause_button_span from the left column, and then add some code so that it reads:

  • #pause_button_span {
    display:block !important;
    }
When we save the changes and open up the module, we should now see a pause button.

Module with Pause Button

To remove this button, we could just remove this code - but for the sake of explaining how to hide a button, you can follow the same steps but add this code instead:
  • #pause_button_span {
    display: none !important;
    }
For most modules, this short snippet of code is all you need to hide or remove different functions to your quizzes. However, there will be instances where this won’t be enough, and you’ll need to resort to JavaScript/jQuery.
The features discussed in this article may or may not be available on your LMS system.
