Creating an LMS Course Template

For admins who would like to create courses from templates, you are able to use an existing course as the template for a new one by duplicating the course. These steps will walk you through creating a new template course that can be duplicated indefinitely, whenever an admin needs to create a course.

Step 1

To start off, you'll want to create a new course. Admins can rename their courses at any time, but to recognize it easily, naming the course something distinguishing (such as "_Template_1", "_Template_2", etc.) allows the admin to quickly identify their templates, and allows an admin to have a variety of templates to choose from.

Step 2

After you have created the course, adjust the course's settings to your preferences, its pages, sections & subsection shell, Event Triggers, and CSS / Javascript (that isn't added to the Learning Portal). Adding these to a template course spares an admin the frustration of adding it to every course later on.

Step 3

When you have finished polishing your template, you can duplicate the course whenever the need rises. Duplicating the course will carry over all of its settings, css, javascript, over to the new course. Admins also have the option of bringing users over to the new course from any duplicated course.
